School

I went to school first in the Netherlands (Coornhert Gymnasium and RSG in Gouda), then did my "O"- and "A" levels in the UK (Hurtwood House private residential school in Holmbury St. Mary, Surrey).

From 1977 to 1980, I read Electronic Engineering at the University of London, UK, and I obtained the degree of BSc(Eng). The degree course included Analog and Digital Circuit Analysis and Design, Nuclear Physics, Computer Science, Cybernetics, Mathematics, and Assembler, Basic and Fortran programming. The lasting value of this education, of course, is not the technology, but the fact that I understand engineering principles, and especially, the scientific method. Clear thinking is useful in life in general, not just in technology.

Business experience

My work experience has led me from technical to management, and from large corporation to small to mid-sized, in what seems a logical flow. Starting with the present:
  1. From 2000: Chief Technology Officer, Digital View Group

  2. 1997-2000: Director, Channel Sales; KL Group Inc., Toronto

  3. 1995-1998: President, Ixonet Marketing Technology Inc, Oakville

  4. 1988-1995: President, Ixonet BV, Bussum, Holland

  5. 1987-1988: Philips Networks International, Brussels, Belgium

  6. 1986-1987: Philips PTDSN, Apeldoorn, Holland

  7. 1980-1986: Philips Telecommunicatie Industrie, Hilversum, Holland
