Italy1982-1984: I worked extensively in Italy; mainly in Rome; for well over one year. Also, I installed Ixdirect Multi Site software and did training and consulting in Milan in October 1996.
In 1984, I commissioned the Sheraton Roma hotel EBX8000 PBX. After three months, the exchange went on-line without a hitch two weeks before opening. In 1985, in charge of a large on-line expansion of the Aeronautics ministry EBX8000 system (2000 lines). Successfully completed the expansion without any exchange down-time. I learnt passable Italian (a necessity, working with Italian staff). I absolutely love Italy. When I think of Italy, I think "quality of life", "culture", "food", and above all: "Style"!. (But I also think of "bureaucracy", "each person for himself", and "resignation to fate"). |
Italy is my favourite country, out of the 29 I have worked in and many
more that I have visited. I wish I had stayed.
